¡Ahora somos los puertorriqueños que también tenemos que exigir con una sola voz nuestra descolonización! / Now Puerto Ricans are the ones who must demand our decolonization in one voice too!

 

La Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU) por las últimas 15 ocasiones, ha aprobado con consenso las resoluciones donde le ha pedido al gobierno de Estados Unidos que descolonice inmediatamente a Puerto Rico porque dicha relación colonial es un crimen en contra de la humanidad por constituir una amenaza a la paz mundial.  El gobierno de Estados Unidos ha ignorado hasta el presente 33 resoluciones de la ONU, y continúa sometiendo a Puerto Rico al coloniaje por los últimos 116 años. 

El caso colonial de Puerto Rico, al igual que el caso de la excarcelación de nuestro preso político puertorriqueño Oscar López Rivera no son casos legales que se pudieran ganar en los tribunales de Estados Unidos.  Hay que recordar que somos una colonia de Estados Unidos (EEUU) porque EEUU lo quiere así. Ambos son casos políticos.

Cuando el gobierno de Estados Unidos nos invadió, usó la fuerza, sin pedirnos permiso o acudir a  un proceso judicial.  Después de adquirir a Puerto Rico, EEUU estableció un sistema de leyes para mantener a Puerto Rico como su colonia para siempre.  ¡Pensar que Puerto Rico se podrá descolonizar a través del gobierno de Estados Unidos es ignorar cómo llegamos ser su colonia!  Después de 116 años de ser una colonia de EEUU, debemos todos estar claro que EEUU nunca descolonizará a Puerto Rico por su cuenta . 

¡Ahora nos toca a los puertorriqueños exigir nuestra descolonización en una sola voz también!  ¿Cómo?

No podremos usar el gobierno de Estados Unidos.  El llamado “gobierno de Puerto Rico” también es el gobierno de Estados Unidos en una colonia.  Usarlo sería no reconocer que somos una colonia de Estados Unidos. 

Debemos boicotear todo proceso electoral para protestar nuestra relación colonial ilegal.  Esto atraería la atención mundial ya que Puerto Rico usualmente participa a un nivel de 85% en nuestro proceso electorales coloniales.  Esto demostraría contundentemente que los puertorriqueños ya no estamos dispuestos a ayudar engañar al mundo que vivimos en una democracia.   

Tenemos que salir a la calle para exigir con una sola voz nuestra descolonización.  Debemos hacerlo por lo menos 3 veces al año de forma permanente.  La primera será una marcha en Puerto Rico hasta el Tribunal de Estado Unidos en el mismo día que celebramos la abolición de la esclavitud.  Ésta la llamaríamos la Segunda Marcha Oscar – Mandela en Puerto Rico.   La segunda manifestación será otra marcha en Puerto Rico en el día antes de la vista sobre la descolonización de Puerto Rico en la ONU.  La tercera será una protesta en Nueva York en el mismo día que la ONU celebra la vista anual para discutir la descolonización de Puerto Rico.  Ésta la llamaríamos la Segunda Protesta Oscar – Mandela en NYC.  Y por supuesto, deberíamos respaldar toda manifestación para la excarcelación de Oscar.

¡Estas protestas permanentes son imprescindible, porque cualquier nación que ha mantenido su colonia por 116 años, y ha ignorado 33 llamados para descolonizarla de la comunidad internacional, no cree en la justicia para todos!

The United Nations (UN) in the last 15 occasions has approved with consensus resolutions asking the United States (US) government to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico, because its relationship is a crime against humanity due to its threat to world peace.  The US government has thus far ignored the 33 UN resolutions, and has maintained Puerto Rico as its colony for the past 116 years. 

Puerto Rico’s colonial status, as well as our efforts to release from prison Puerto Rico’s political prisoner of 33 years Oscar López Rivera are not legal cases that could be won in the US courts.  You must keep in mind that Puerto Rico is a colony of the United States because the US wants it that way.  They are both political cases.

When the US government invaded Puerto Rico, it did not ask for Puerto Rico’s permission.  The US government also did not use the legal system.  The US government used force!  After it acquired Puerto Rico, the US created laws to maintain Puerto Rico a US colony forever.  To believe that Puerto Rico could ever be decolonize through the US government is to ignore how Puerto Rico became a US colony in the first place.  After 116 years of Puerto Rico being a US colony, it is obvious that the US government will never decolonize Puerto Rico on its own!

Now, it is the Puerto Ricans who have to demand our decolonization with one voice too.  How?

We cannot use the US government.  The so called “Puerto Rico government” is also the US government in a colony.  To use them would be to not recognize that Puerto Rico is a colony. 

We must boycott the electoral process to protest our illegal political relationship with the US.  This will undoubtedly call the world’s attention since Puerto Rico usually participates electorally at an 85% level.  This will say in a convincing way to the world that Puerto Rico will no longer help the US fool the world into believing that Puerto Rico lives in a democracy. 

We must instead vote with our feet to demand with one voice our decolonization!  We must protest at least 3 times a year on a permanent basis.  The first one will be a march in Puerto Rico to the US Courthouse on the day we celebrate the abolition of slavery-March 22.  We will call that the Second Oscar – Mandela March in Puerto Rico.  The second one will be another march in Puerto Rico on the day before the UN’s hearing on Puerto Rico decolonization.  The third one will be a protest in New York City on the day the UN holds its hearing on Puerto Rico decolonization.  We will call that one the Second Oscar – Mandela Protest in NYC.  This hearing is usually on a Monday after Fathers’ Day.  And of course, we should support all demonstrations for Oscar’s release from prison. 

These protests are absolutely necessary, because any nation that has maintained a colony for 116 years, and has ignored 33 times the international community's call to decolonize, does not believe in justice for all!
